Reed City Area District Library

Digital Services

The Reed City Public Library just introduced the new services of a foreign language learning database, Rocket Languages, and digital e-books through Freading, both services facilitated by the vendor Library Ideas, LLC. The introduction of these digital library services was made possible for a two year period through a grant received from the Osceola County Community Foundation.
Digital Services

-Rocket Languages offers folks the opportunity to learn eleven different foreign languages. This service is freely available to all registered patrons of the Reed City Public Library.  To register for use, simply visit the Library web page at www.reedcitylibrary.org, select the e-shelf & research tab and locate the link for Rocket Languages on the right side of the page.  Users will be required to provide their library card number and complete a very short registration.  Please visit the following link to learn more about Rocket Languages, http://libraryideas.com/rocket.html

-Freading is an e-book service that provides access to over 20,000 titles otherwise not freely available.  Patrons receive a certain weekly allowance of tokens they can apply towards an e-book check out.  Again, this service is freely available to Reed City Public Library patrons after completing a registration at https://reedcitylibrary.freading.com (this link is also on the Library website).  Some additional steps are required and instructional handouts are available at the Library.  Compatible devices include Kindle Fires, Nook family devices, Most Android based tablets or phones, Apple iPads and iPhones, any computer running a Windows or Mac platform and Kobo EReaders and Vox tablets.
