Making Sandstone at the Library

A story about the third Tuesday program for Summer Reading Program (SRP) with reminder for next Family event.
Making Sandstone at the Library

Our "Geology Rocks" themed program day that occurred on Tuesday, July 9th had 13 children come for our 11 am session for Pre-School through First Graders and we had 21 children for our 1 pm session for 2nd through 5th graders.  The little children read a book about worms and created worm chains while the older youth learned about the rock to soil process and visited several hands-on experiment stations including rock exploration, understanding volcanic hot spots and glacier mechanisms.  Children were also able to make and take their own sandstone, which they seemed very interested in!

Remember to attend and learn the how-to's of geocaching at our "Getting Started: Geocaching 101" Family Event this Saturday, July 13th; 1-3 pm at the Library with presenter Barb Graham.

What great participation this year.  We had 131 youth participate in the Summer Reading Program (SRP) last year and are already at 161 for this summer!
