Kindle Fires for Checkout at Library

The Library now has two Kindle Fire e-readers loaded with classic titles that are available for checkout for a two-week period. Freely available, out of copyright titles, available through Project Gutenberg, were loaded onto the e-readers. Adults or teens (with a parent/legal guardian co-signer) may check them out after completing the Library's Borrower's Agreement. Titles were selected in consultation with Reed City High School Teacher Neil Harrison, who provided a reading list for his literature course. Titles would be representative of required reading in other schools as well. Please see the list below to view titles that are loaded onto the Kindle Fires. This service benefits students by offering another reading format for classics and gives all patrons a no-cost opportunity to try an e-reader. It also serves the purpose of allowing patrons to explore Kindle Fire capabilities before deciding what type of e-reader they might like to purchase. A reserve list for the Kindle Fires is available. The purchase of the Kindle Fires and equipment components was made possible by a grant received by the Osceola County Community Foundation (OCCF). Thank you OCCF and we hope all of our patrons enjoy the new Kindle Fires. Contact the Library for more details.
