When is the library open?
The library is open Monday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Tuesday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, Wednesday to Friday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, and every second Saturday of the month from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Where is the library located?
The library is located at 829 S Chestnut Street next to the State Police Post and across the road from the Dollar General Market.
What are the requirements for a new library card?
In order to get a library card at the Reed City Area District Library, you must be over the age of 16 and have a valid State ID or Driver's License that shows you live within one of our contracting locations of the City of Reed City, Richmond Township, Lincoln Township, Green Charter Township, or Cedar Township! Students and employees of the RCAPS may get a card free of charge with their student ID regardless of where they are located. You must apply for a library card in person at this time. A non-resident card is available for those who live outside of our contracted locations, the cost of the card is $45 a year.

How can I renew a book?
To renew a book, you can text us at 231-624-8052 or call during regular business hours at 231-832-2131. Please have your account information ready for the clerks to assist you.
How much does it cost to print or fax at the library?
The library offers print, scan, and fax services at the circulation desk to everyone in the community whether they have a library card or not. Printing costs $0.25 per side for black and white pages and $0.50 per side for color pages. Faxing costs $0.50 per page. Scanning to a hard drive is free, but we cannot send documents from the printer to your email at this time.
There is a print limit of 75 pages a day and due to system limitations, we will only scan 75 pages to a usb at a time.
How old do you need to be to get a library card?
You need to be 8 years of age or older and with a parent or guardian or 16 years of age or older with a valid State ID or Driver's License.
What if I am not a resident of the townships you contract with?
Unfortunately, not all of the townships in the local area contract with our library. While you do not need a card to use our internet or enjoy the library, if you want to check out materials or use the Libby app, you will need to purchase a $45 non-resident card.
What is my PIN for Kanopy?
Your PIN for Kanopy is the phone number given to the library on your library card application.
